It’s a new year, and casting announcements already have us obsessing. And it’s entirely because of Carrie Coon. Carrie Coon’s range as an actress is phenomenal, but everything she does at Bertha Russell in The Gilded Age proves that she’s the perfect star to join The White Lotus Season 3. Coon is a chameleon actor—someone who escapes so effectively into a role that you often won’t associate her characters with the film or series you’ve last seen her in. Yet, something about The Gilded Age and The White Lotus can create an intrinsic marriage where maybe both Bertha Russell and whomever she’s playing could make the role even better.
That might not even be the case, considering there’s very little we actually know about The White Lotus Season 3 other than the fact that it’ll take place in Thailand. Still, one thing is for sure, Coon is about to take over (as she should), and we’re entirely here for it.
Apart from Carrie Coon, The White Lotus Season 3 will include Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, and Tayme Thapthimthong with Natasha Rothwell reprising her role as Belinda (exclusively reported by Variety). The White Lotus Season 2 was an undeniable success, improving upon the show’s debut, but with this lineup, it’d be no surprise if the third season is an even bigger winner.
According to HBO, production on The White Lotus Season 3 is set to begin in February, and if all goes well, we could be looking at a late-year or early 2025 release. Still, much remains unclear with the glaring and deserved hype that surrounds this cast. There’s plenty the series could still have up its sleeve, and we’ll update this post if and when more information starts to surface.
Edit: Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola, and Aimee Lou Wood have also joined the cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
