Netflix sets release dates for The Witcher Season 3 with a new teaser, and we have many, many feelings. Like Stranger Things Season 4, the third (and Henry Cavill’s final season) will premiere in two parts, with five episodes on June 29 and the remaining three on July 27.
Since the announcement that Liam Hemsworth will replace Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, it’s been tough to predict where The Witcher Season 3 will go. Will viewers have to pretend as though Hemsworth has been Geralt all along? Will other actors depart from their roles as well? Additionally, since the season is following in the footsteps of Stranger Things—does this mean a character will possibly die? There’s very little we know, and The Witcher Season 3 teaser only preludes more angst.
Still, if we’re judging by the new poster, at the very least, it seems we’ll have plenty of family time with Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri before the departure marks the end of this chapter. The official Netflix synopsis (via Variety) reads: “As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.”
The first look at The Witcher Season 3 teases that no one’s arc is safe from angst. We’re in for the type of bloody adventure that could lead to places we’re not quite sure we want to venture to but ready to do so, nevertheless. In the meantime, we’ll be here, staring at the new poster and teaser.
