Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania trailer teases what could very well be the film’s most emotional installment yet. Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” playing in the background while Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and his entire family are thrust into the Quantum realm where they meet Kang (Jonathan Majors) doesn’t look good for anybody.
The trailer initially premiered to the audience at Disney’s D23 Expo, with Marvel’s official showcase coming in today after multiple leaks. Despite the humor attached to Ant-Man and Scott’s character in general, like Thor, the emotional beats in his development have been some of the best parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And considering how Thor Love and Thunder went, no one can blame us for being just a bit scared of where this story can go.
The official synopsis courtesy of Marvel is: In the film, which officially kicks off phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible. Jonathan Majors joins the adventure as Kang. Peyton Reed returns to direct the film; Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard produce.
As many fans have already vocalized, Phase 4 hasn’t been Marvel’s strongest. It’s been disjointed in more ways than one, with some pieces of the universe, like She-Hulk and Moon Knight, operating on their own turfs while everyone else is sort of floating around trying to fit into the Multiverse Saga. Still, judging by the Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania Trailer, it seems this film could finally bring some sense into the new phase, allowing it to make much more sense as we continue heading toward Secret Wars.
