Of all the things to debut at D23 Expo, a two-minute-long Willow trailer might just have us in a never-ending chokehold until its premiere in November. It still feels like a fever dream of sorts to know that Willow is not only coming back but for an epic new series with more adventures than a sequel film could’ve ever given us. The film’s magic is unlike anything else we’ve seen, and the childlike wonder that’s an undeniable force throughout the original shines brilliantly in the trailer to promise us something beautiful and full of heart.

Warwick Davis will thankfully reprise his incomparable role as Willow, which is everything we could’ve hoped for and more. The Disney Plus series will also be starring Erin Kellyman, Ruby Cruz, Ellie Bamber, Rosabell Laurenti Sellers, Joanne Whalley, Tony Revolori, Dempsey Bryk, Amar Chadha-Patel, Talisa Garcia, Ralph Ineson, and more. Christian Slater will also be joining the previously announced cast, making the series more and more fascinating by the hour.

For some, Willow is a film that we’ve watched for the very first time as adults; for others, it’s been an epic adventure since the 80s. And if the Willow trailer showcases anything, it’s that 2022 truly is the resurgence of epic fantasies on our screens. With The Rings of Power, Shadow and Bone, The Wheel of Time, House of the Dragonand now Willowthere’s so much to look forward to after what felt like a tragic lull.

Additionally, of all the trailers that have debuted thus far, what we get with Willow feels like it will capture the magic of our childhoods in a way none of the series mentioned above do. And that’s a testament to the genre, which touches on the story’s innocence. There’s immense heart in Willow that’s yet to be replicated, and we can’t wait to see where the story goes.

Watch the Willow trailer below, and let us know what you’re looking forward to most in the comments.
