On Wednesdays, we wear pink black. Netflix’s Wednesday trailer is finally here, promising mayhem and mischief through the titular character played by Jenna Ortega. While there’s still no definitive release day for the series, the trailer perfectly touches on the Addams Family dynamic, leaving us all excited and hoping for an October premiere. What better time to spend with this chaotic family than during the spookiest month of the year?

Starring alongside Ortega is Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as the iconic Morticia, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley. Netflix’s Latine-centered cast is already promising, considering the previous work they’ve done, but even if we weren’t aware of what the actors were capable of, the cooky vibe they exude in Netflix’s Wednesday trailer is enough to tell us the notoriously creepy family is in great hands.

Tim Burton is the series’s executive producer, while Miles Millar and Alfred Gough (best known for Smallville) will take the reins as showrunners. According to the Vanity Fair feature released earlier this week, Burton has directed four of the eight episodes, which should be undoubtedly riveting. This version of the character is also standing as her pesky brother’s protector, noting that she’s the only one allowed to torture him before she’s expelled and sent to Nevermore Academy

Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) will also star as Larissa Weems. However, that’s not all because while we have confirmation that Christina Ricci will also be in the series, we don’t yet know who she’ll be playing. Still, it’ll be spellbinding to see the actress return to her Addams roots, no matter how it happens. Further, any news on Uncle Fester is kept entirely under wraps for the time being.

According to press releases, Wednesday’s general synopsis reads as: “a young adult TV series described as a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. She attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”

Judging by Netflix’s Wednesday trailer alone, it’s clear that no matter what’s in store, the series will be a fantastic addition to our viewing schedule. Plus, this mystery looming over Nevermore is bound to bring some intriguing twists to the stories we’ve grown up with, adding layers to the characters we cannot help but care for.
