Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves trailer is here, giving us one too many feelings about Chris Pine. And rightfully so, because in truth, everything we know about D&D is because of Stranger Things, which means we’re ultimately hyped for this movie because of the cast.
The film will be starring the iconic angel human man Chris Pine, Micheal Rodriguez (Fast & Furious Saga), Hugh Grant (Notting Hill, Love Actually), Regé-Jean Page (Bridgerton, The Gray Man), Daisy Head (Shadow and Bone), Jason Wong (The Gentlemen), Sophia Lillis (It), Justin Smith (Pikachu, Jurassic World), Chloe Coleman (Gunpowder Milkshake, Marry Me), and more. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at SDCC, Pine described the film as a “little bit of Game of Thrones with The Princess Bride, with a little bit of Spinal Tap”—we’ll take the essence of Game of Thrones, but here’s to hoping the characters make it to the end.
Because really, Pine’s description, along with the official Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves trailer, promises something fun amidst all the chaos. The film is written and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, inspired by Dave Arneson’s games. Both writers had teamed up for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming along with Jon Watts, and that film is the best kind of paradigm to showcase that a stellar beginning to any franchise paves the road for the greatness that will follow. Dungeons & Dragons is in safe hands, and while we don’t know much about the game, it already feels incredibly promising.
Dungeons & Dragons will release in theaters in March 2023 and until then, we’ll be thinking about Chris Pine’s glorious outfit at SDCC. I mean, the trailer—we’ll be thinking about the trailer. No, but seriously. It doesn’t even matter if this movie is great, judging by the amount of times we’ve already replayed the trailer, we know it’ll be the most fun while watching.
