The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4 trailer is here, and we’ve got a lot of thoughts. We have no glimpse of the character Milo Ventimiglia is supposed to play in the trailer, but we have a few small shots of Lenny Bruce, and for that, we’re thankful. It’s been too long since the fall out from Season 3, but will the new season actually address it all? Here’s to hoping.
Season 3 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel leaves audiences with the understanding that Susie’s gambled away all of Midge’s money, and Midge has publicly outed Shy Baldwin during her set on his tour. While most of us don’t think Midge meant for that to happen, the new season must allow her to understand exactly why and how wrong she was for doing so. And it’s also imperative that the series handles Susie’s likely addiction with grace as well. What will happen to her parents? Joel? The kids? Well, only time will tell, but at the least, the trailer makes it seem like Tony Shalhoub’s Abe Weissman is having the time of his life.
But what’s more imperative than anything else, the detail that the trailer rightfully doesn’t show, what will happen to Luke Kirby’s Lenny Bruce? Could this finally be the season where Midge and Lenny’s “maybe someday” becomes today? Here’s to hoping. We know the history. We know it’s unlikely. But even a one-time thing could potentially satisfy us, and solely seeing Lenny Bruce again in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4 trailer is enough to keep us going until the show resumes on February 18.
Wherever the show leads, it’s good to be back. As announced earlier by Amazon Studios, in the same way that they’ve been distributing shows like The Expanse and most other original series, the show will be airing weekly now instead of having the entire season all at once. That might be what tortures us most, friends, but we’re going to get through it.
