This Week’s Most Exquisite TV Moment

May 11-17
“There’s No Place Like Home” | Once Upon A Time

Due to our inability to choose just one scene from Once Upon A Time’s phenomenal season finale, we’ve decided to pick everything from the moment Emma and Hook came back to the present – moments we’ve felt emphasize the show’s true message while doing its uniquely compelling characters justice.

What’s better than Emma Swan finally calling her parents ‘mom and dad’ or giving into love with a man who’d go to the ends of the world for her? What’s better than a wedding between two people who’ve gone through countless trials to be together? Or Prince Charming and Snow White finally being together, with both their children, grandson, and loved ones by their side without being threatened to have it taken away from them? Not many things. Point being, the last 10 minutes of Once Upon A Time’s season 3 finale titled “There’s No Place Like Home” will forever be one of the greatest TV moments in history – in our book at least.

These scenes glorify the treasures in life, make certain the audience could see that redemption, love, finding home, and being happy are achievable in life. In the most beautiful way, these scenes crystallize the conception that home is where the heart is.

Belle“This thing we have, it’s never been easy. And I’ve lost you so many times. I’ve lost you to darkness, to weakness, and finally to death. And now I realize, I have not spent my life losing you, I’ve spent my life finding you.”

Rumple:“Belle, when we met, I wasn’t just unloved and unloving. I was an enemy of love. Love had only brought me pain, my walls were up but you brought them down, you brought me home. You brought light into my life and chased away all the darkness. I will never forget the distance between what I was and what I am. I owe more to you than I can ever say. How you can see the man behind the monster, I will never know.”

There’s nothing quite as exquisite as a montage of this sort that illuminates the gorgeous entities which bind two people as one.

For Rumple and Belle, tying the knot is a lovely way of demonstrating that they can conquer whatever’s in their path On a show where true love’s kiss breaks even the most treacherous curses, they’ve spent their entire lives finding ways to love one another despite the prodigious difference in their personas. Belle is purely kind, and Rumple’s spent a great part of his life torn between the man he could be and the man he chooses to be. Belle’s love brings goodness into his life, helps him see that power is meaningless when man doesn’t have love in his life – above all things, it’s about growing as a better being every day. Rumplestilskin and Belle’s relationship validates that darkness could never win when it’s up against pristine love. Watching them in a moment where the entire world was theirs, becoming one, and cherishing one another stunningly in such a intimate wedding is the most wonderful thing for the duo.

For Snow and Charming having the camera pan to them with the words ‘I’ve spent my life finding you’ is the perfect tribute to a couple who’ve gone through great lengths merely to be with one another. As the kind of love that serves as an example of a gorgeous union, Snow and Charming are invincible. Because of the deeply rooted desires within them, their promises always bring them back to one another and help them grow in ways they cannot alone. They’re the couple who find beauty in one another and their children every single day – they strive to make the best out of every situation because the love they share allows them to handle everything with the utmost grace and kindness.

For Killian and Emma love is home. As two people who’ve experienced the most tragic forms of heartbreak, they are living proof that love and only love can heal people of their old wounds while freeing them of their wrongs – becoming the best versions they can be, not for themselves but because the person in front of them deserves the world. They are each other’s person – the safe haven when the world falls apart. Emma inspires him to believe in the kind of love that can transcend realms, and Killian’s inspires her to believe in herself, in homeand in love. Together, it’s all about trust, the kind that allows both of them to believe in an emotion much greater than anything they’ve experienced before. As they kiss outside of Granny’s diner, the lost girl welcomes love into her life as the heroic pirate is undeniably filled with the most intense form of gratitude as he holds his world in his hands.

For Robin and Regina it’s about light. They help one another believe that love is in the cards for them. And though there are enormous challenges awaiting them at the moment, they’re destined for another. Love isn’t easy. It’s a constant fight to prove that they are deserving of one another. With Robin and Regina, it’s about beginning something beautiful, trying to balance the boldness and softness of their personas while giving each other a kind of happiness that keeps them both grounded and in the clouds. Their romance blossomed quickly – the magnetic spiritual and physical connection they share is a rare one.

As Belle states, ‘sometimes the best book has the dustiest jacket, sometimes the best teacup is chipped’. People are imperfect, but loving someone with every part of their being is the the only form of perfection that exists. These four pairs fight for each other and though it’s just beginning for some, there will undoubtedly be challenges that’ll force them to prove their love can do anything they want it to. What marks this montage as one of the most beautiful is the fact that it illuminates all kinds of love, though they’re similar in many ways, they each tell a distinct story that’s meant to inspire.
