Spoilers Ahead
In flashbacks, we learned that while his heart was still under Cora’s command Will was told to haunt and kill Alice, but she instead offers to steal his heart back thus freeing him from Cora’s control. Will then helps her find proof of Wonderland to show her father, and the two share drinks while talking about their plans and past.
Jafar tells Will that he’d change the laws of magic and bring Anastasia back from the dead if they let him win and releases him in order for him to tell Cyrus and Alice. Because the staff is Cyrus’ mother and other terrible things he’s capable of, he and Alice are evidently reluctant to return it and help him. Will takes it as they’re sleeping and during a conversation with Alice, he eventually walks away but still saves her when her life’s in danger. After realizing that everyone does indeed deserve a second chance, Alice and Cyrus decide to help Will in bringing Anastasia back and destroying Jafar. Cyrus serves as a distraction for Jafar while Alice frees the Sultan; however, even Amara in her human form is no match for his powers. Unfortunately during their battle, Jafar throws glass into Cyrus’ heart and forces Amara to team up with him to complete the spell.
There were so many great moments in this week’s episode, and one of them was certainly Alice and Knave’s conversation when he saved her from drowning. As we previously learned, Will doesn’t know how to swim, but what he also doesn’t know is how to lose Alice, and it was gorgeous to watch them fortify their friendship once more.
Prior to the duo agreeing with Will’s desire to save Ana, he brought up the fact that he’s continuously been by her side as she was searching for Cyrus, and actualized the idea that it is in fact the same thing. I particularly thought this conversation was certainly necessary and undoubtedly well executed as it’s pretty common to momentarily forget where we’ve been when we’re at the place we want to be. Thankfully, Alice realized the similarities between their situations quickly and decided that the honorable thing to do would be to help.
It’s also interesting to watch true love couples feel the other’s pain when something’s wrong, and when it comes to Cyrus and Alice, they’ve always been in sync that way.
Based on what we’ve been told from Rumpelstilskin, magic can do many things, but bring back the dead, and based on promos, we know Ana’s alive, so I can’t help but feel a bit paranoid about how this is all happening and what it could mean. True Love’s kiss is the most powerful magic of all, so hopefully, that does the trick in bringing Ana back to Will.
Make sure to tune in next week as this darling Wonderland chapter comes to end. Here’s to hoping everyone gets their happy ending.
